PEACEFUL DOULA
SUPPORTING & EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH THE BIRTH THEY DESERVE AND BEYOND...
My Story
Hannah, the Peaceful Doula
I am a doula, former nurse, wellness educator, and life coach with extensive experience in prenatal, labour and postpartum support as a doula. I trained via Nurturing Birth in 2008, and was part of Doula UK network.
I have three children who were born in water - two home births, one free birth, one lotus birth. I am fully acquainted with the work and love that goes into preparing for your ideal labour and birth, and transition into parenting!
My passion is to help women through the birth THEY have chosen, not only as a hand to hold but as someone who will make them feel empowered in their choices and safe in their vulnerability.

I am so honoured to be considered to be a part of your birthing journey.
My Services
A doula is a professional birth attendant trained to support women around the time of childbirth. A doula provides personalised continuity of care throughout pregnancy, birth and the post-natal period, and specialises in physical, informational and emotional support for the birthing couple.
My role is non-clinical, so I do not:
perform any clinical tasks, for example: blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, etc.
make decisions for you: I will help you get the information necessary for you to make an informed decision.
speak to clinical staff on your behalf: I will discuss your concerns with you and may suggest options, but you or your partner must speak on your own behalf to the clinical staff.
Prenatal Visits
Before the birth, I visit you at your home or at a place of your choosing. These visits prepare the way for you to have a better labour and birth experience. We will discuss your ideas and preferences for your birth, and you have a chance to get to know me. You have unlimited access to my extensive lending library of books, DVDs and articles.
You are the expert on you and are the best person to assess your needs and decide what birth strategies suit you. I’m here to honour your uniqueness and respect your choices, as well as offer suggestions that may enhance and empower you during your birthing process.

Birthing Guidance & During Labour
I am always available to you via phone, email or Facebook Messenger to provide guidance around your birthing preparations and process. I am to respond as quickly as possible.
When you go into labour, I will meet you at your planned birthing location as soon as possible after being notified by you or your partner that labour has commenced. I will stay with you the whole time to support you in the way we have planned together.
I will orgnanise a backup doula as a contingency. Except for extraordinary circumstances, I or my bac-up doula will remain with you throughout your labour and birth.

Postpartum Support
After the birth, I will stay with you for a short while, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together. I will visit you again in your own home or hospital as required and do any further support work you request of me in the following 3 days.
I can also help with initial breastfeeding, if necessary. I will make another visit to you after the birth to provide you with the opportunity to de-brief your birth experience, and to obtain feedback from you about my role.
My aim is to help you have a birth that is as positive an experience as possible, so that you can look back with fond memories.

“The wisdom and compassion a woman can intuitively experience in childbirth can make her a source of healing and understanding for other women.”
